The 45th Annual Convention and AGM of the Saskatchewan Auctioneers Association was held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Delta Hotel In Regina. 17 auctioneer delegates enjoyed the day’s activities, which were capped off by the 1st Annual Celebrity Charity Auction. Regular business of the association was held during the day, with a presentation from the Ministry of Finance regarding PST collection by auctioneers. Election of directors was held, and we welcome Des Plewman of Regina and Kelly Schneider of Medstead to the board. We say farewell to Brendan Kramer of North Battleford after six years of service, and are pleased to announce outgoing President Brad Stenberg of Indian Head as one of two new members to the Board of Trustees. Although saddened to hear a resignation from Board of Trustee member Ross Taylor of Reston, MB, we wish him well in his pending retirement. Taking his place was appointee Dan Heslip of Regina. The new executive for 2019 is: Riley McChesney, President; Paul Moore, Vice-President; and Des Plewman, Treasurer
We were pleased to have three exceptional celebrity auctioneers help us to raise funds for the Rural Mental Health Association. These celebrities were: Evan Bray, Chief, Regina Police Service; Cody Glydon, 620 CKRM Radio; and Chris Lane, CEO of Canadian Western Agribition.
Exciting news coming out of the convention was our plan to hold the next AGM and convention in conjunction with Canadian Western Agribition, on November 26, 2019. Talks are ongoing with the intent of having all the meetings and other events on the Agribition site, in the hopes of attracting more Auctioneer delegates to our AGM and convention. Please stay tuned to this website for further information as details are finalized.
