From the Desk of: JACK AUCTION GROUP

The Canadian Bison Association Committee has entrusted us once again, with the marketing of the Canadian National Sale. The quality of the stock is outstanding, and whichever ranch you select a bull or females from, you will be very happy with the quality. There is no better time to add top-end genetics to your program. The industry is really focusing on Quality, from calves, to Yearlings, to Finished Animals, Quality is Key! Gone are the days that poor quality feeder animals bring back a big return… Feedlot operators and back grounding lots, are demanding quality, and are willing to pay a premium for the very best feeders. That starts here with powerful bulls, and elite females. Now is the time to invest in your program, and buy some of the best genetics in North America, right from the comfort of your own home. I encourage you to contact each consignor if you’d like additional information that is not already included in the footnotes. Ask them questions, and visit with them about their consignments. If we can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 1-306-641-9285. Sale Order will be posted the day prior to the sale! Because we have no Grand Champions to start the sale with, we will be starting each section of the sale with a WILD CARD ‘Pick of the Pen’ at the start of each section, which gives you the power to select any Bull or Female of that age group we are selling. For Example to start the sale you will have choice of all 7 of the 2018 Breeding Bulls, and the High Bidder gets to select his or her pick, and they own that animal, what a great way to assure you get the one you want with this exciting lot, as well, it gives equal opportunity to all consignors to sell in the lead-off position, as the animals are not judged this year, so YOU the BUYERS, will be totally in the drivers seat. The same Wildcard ‘Pick of the Pen’ will be done for the 2019 Bulls, the Bred Heifers, and the Open Heifers. So get ready to bid, and have your favorites picked out. For those of you who don’t have high-speed internet or aren’t totally comfortable bidding online, we will gladly set you up with a phone operator to bid for you over the phone, please register a minimum TWO HOURS prior to sale time for phone bidding. Ranch Profile – ROAMING K BISON

Roaming K Bison was started in 2000 as a division of Kitzul Farms Ltd, located South West of Foam Lake. It is owned and operated by Dale, Laurie, and Keegan Kitzul. Prior to 2000, we were only grain farmers. Dale knew he had to diversify into another venture. ?We have to much waste land that isn?t farmable?, Dale would say. We currently grain farm 4000 acres, and have over 850 head as we start to finish all our stock. Our 4 breeding herds consist of 225 cow/calf pairs and 40 bred heifers that we rotate into the program as needed, or sell as breeding stock. We put great time in sourcing and breeding our stock, as we focus on fast finishers with high quality carcasses to meet the growing demand of bison meat. Our herd sires come from Shale Creek Bison, Silver Creek Bison, Bison Spirit Ranch, XY Bison, and our own breeding program. If it?s breeding stock, meat or grain, everything on our farm is raised with passion and sold with pride. We?re proud to be a Saskatchewan farm and ranch family! Ranch Profile – VIKING BISON RANCH

Viking Bison Ranch (Gary and Leslie Christianson) have been active in the bison industry for over 22 years. The ranch has built a reputation for having some of the very best Pure Wood Breeding Bulls in the business. Currently the ranch operates two, Pure Wood herds, and one cross genetic herd. One of the 2018 bulls offered in this National Sale is out of the ranch’s orignal Wood Bison Herd. The other bull is from a single sire Pure Wood Group. Viking Bison Pure Wood Bulls fit in very favorably with many operations, putting extra length and growth to the calves they sire. Viking Bison Ranch always has “High-End” Breeding Stock available, and knows the genetics detailed for each specific group. Our philosophy is never to feed the breeding stock with heavy feed. All weaned calves are on grass only the following summer, and are only offered oats when needed. We believe in eliminating stress for the animals wherever possible. Video Sales are a perfect fit for the health and well-being of the animals, and we are excited to be a part of the 2020 Canadian National Sale. Phone: 306-874-7590 Web Site: Facebook:

Ranch Profile – ROCKY MEADOW BISON

Rocky Meadow Bison became established 17 years ago when an opportunity came along to purchase a small group of Plains heifers while working in the Drayton valley area at the age of 21. These heifers were then briefly boarded at the Orval Enge ranch in Margo, SK. until a fence was constructed back home. When these original heifers came home from Margo, they came with 2 of Orval?s bulls and this group and along with additional heifer purchases from the Orcheski?s of Buffalo Hill ranch would form the majority of our foundation herd. Over time, the herd has evolved into a very uniform group of 90 extremely docile, thick, fertile, consistently productive Plains females. Only with time did I begin to realize which were my most productive cows, the stand out, nice looking ones that always calved on time, had lots of milk and raised a good calf every year, some of them for even as long as 16 years consecutively! Over the years, many daughters to these outstanding cows were chosen to replace any under performing cows and to grow the herd. They were matched up with high quality bulls from top Plains producers and it has been quite exciting to witness how these daughters have all developed into highly productive cows as well, which in turn has helped to maintain conception rates in the high 90?s and weaning weights well over 500 lbs. These bison are my pride and joy! I have been actively taking them to shows for the past 10 years and have been the proud recipient of numerous top placings, including several Gold and Silver Trophies, a Grand Champion Bull and a Reserve Champion Female! These top placings have been very encouraging to continue focusing on selecting genetics and paying close attention to herd and pasture management. Raising bison is my passion! Agribition was always the highlight of my year, unfortunately the convention will be a little different this year as we can?t all get together to socialize, but I will offer my number and welcome anyone to give me call at 306-593-7224 if you feel like chatting buffalo or have any questions about the operation or would like to come see the stock prior to the sale. Really looking forward already to hopefully seeing everyone again in 2021! Phone: 306-593-7224 Web Site: Facebook:

Ranch Profile – WOLVERINE BISON RANCH

Wolverine Bison was founded in 1994 by partners Jane and Cec Stumborg and Denise and Mark Silzer and is located near Humboldt, SK. The current herd originated from a Plains Bison genetic base that was imported from the United States in 1982. The original group provided a strong foundation from which to build. The herd continues to be built on exclusive Plains Bison genetics and is part of the Conservation Herd Registry in Canada and the United States. Meticulous record keeping, attention to detail along with a discerning selection process has developed into an award winning herd. Replacement animals finding their way into the herd are selected for performance with particular attention given to length, width and muscling. Wolverine Bison has won numerous awards for their stock over the past twenty six years. In addition to the individual awards, the company has also received the Producer of the year Award at the National Show in Canada as well as the Gold Trophy Show and Sale in Denver. Aside from the awards, the greatest testament to the quality of the animals comes from standing purchase orders for stock and a repeat customer base that continues to add Wolverine Bison genetics to their breeding programs. Whether being used to complement and strengthen Plains Bison genetics in an existing herd, or making a strong contribution in a Woods/Plains Cross program, Wolverine Bison stock has something to offer.
